Mercedes-Benz AMG CL 63 Coupe Coming Soon

Mercedes is about to debut their highest level coupe model. With the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz CL 65, the new generation CL coupe will be available in a quartet of flavors; V8 regular, V8 AMG, V12 regular, and V12 AMG.

According to Autoexpress sources, rumor has it that the base version of Nissan’s answer to the Porsche 911 will be extremely competitive in pricing. The GT-R’s pricing appears to be mainly relative to the two types of brakes and transmissions available, as well as the uber-awesome GT-R Evolution version loaded with sexy carbon fiber parts!

The Entry-level GT-R (£29,000 or $57,107.07 USD) will rock a slick six-speed manual gearbox and four-piston Brembo brakes. Not to bad for it’s entry level, but keep in mind it must compete with the entry level 911.

The V-spec GT-R (£35,000 or $68,909.58 USD) will bring you to a screaching halt with six-piston Brembos and a dual-clutch, two-pedal, seven-speed DSG box. Please note this is not another variant of the garbage technology plaguing many sports cars called Tiptronic. I always laugh when I ask someone if their car has a manual transmission and they answer YES…….. then rebuttle with ‘well its Tiptronic’… Sorry but not even close buddy.

For those of you new to DSG, the unit uses an inner and an outer clutch to engage and disengage cogs. The outer pack drives gears 1, 3, and 5; while the inner clutch pack drives 2, 4, and 6. Using complicated electronic algorithms, the drivers selected gear is engaged by one clutch pack while the previous gear is disengaged by the other. The GT-R Evolution (£52,000 or $102,376.92 USD) wearing many carbon fiber parts will further reduce its weight and make it more HARDCORE for the HARDCORE.
