Here’s the last one in the series, and its a Duesie! The Tenth annual Roadster show had established its self as the premier custom vehicle show on the West Coast, and refer to themselves as “the ‘Grandaddy’ of them all” for the first time in this very program. So who were the big names at this one? Richard Guasco (later of Pure Hell fame), Dean Jeffries brought his custom Porsche 356, and Richard Strock brought his “Flicker Movie Deuce”, later known as Lloyd Bakan’s ‘32 Ford coupe! The “Hot Rod Girl” ‘Barris custom 56 Ford was there, and Shirley Barris brought up her freshly-built ‘58 “Ultra Bird”. Rounding out our famous attendees is Gene Winfield bringing his 1933 shop truck, and a young Pete Paulsen bringing his ‘40 Ford pick up. Of course, I’ve probably left a few key cars out, but with so many to choose from it was really hard. This just speaks to the quality and volume of the cars that were there in ‘59…
