NASA believes that the future of scooters is clean, green, and comes in modular parts. They’ve awarded the Movito Electric Scooter the top honors for their “Create The Future Design Contest” for its simplicity and downright ingenuity. It starts as an ordinary-looking scooter but the features are surprising. The design has two main parts, the upper scooter chassis and the base with the motor and steering mechanism. The bottom half has the rear wheel which is driven by an in-wheel electric motor, negating the need for a drivetrain and thus increasing the efficiency. The front wheel is hubless and forkless saving weight. The bottom half also houses the batteries and can be completely separated from the upper chassis. Add another base and connect it in parallel and the scooter becomes a mini 2-seater. The future looks bright and the possibilities are endless thanks to the Movito.
